WHO is spearheading an ongoing initiative, the WHO UNFCCC Climate and Health Country Profile Project. Through a consultation and review process involving cross-sector collaboration, these country profiles provide information on climate hazards and health risks tailored to Ministers of Health, health decision-makers and advocates.
This process has, and continues to, create and strengthen relationships between the climate and health sectors, as well as engage a network of inter-ministerial focal points charged with advancing and disseminating findings. In doing so, the capacity to proactively respond to climate hazards and mitigate its effects are being strengthened. The project has also promoted innovative research into climate hazards and the health impact modeling.
