External informal audit of Climate Resilient Water Safety Plans (CR-Wsps), 2019

Countries involved: Ethiopia

Organizations involved: WHO, Federal Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity (FMoWIE)

A report on the implementation of CR-WSPs in ten pilot towns’ water supply and sewerage enterprises (TWSSEs), and six pilot rural community-managed water supplies (CMWS) in Ethiopia. Audit findings show CR-WSPs has motivated TWSSEs and CMWS to give due attention to the safety of drinking water. It also shows that success of CR-WSP implementation was dependent on leadership, staff commitment, and support from other WSP team members, universities and partner organizations. Inadequate training and leadership turnover are two key factors for low performance.
